I found some Office Max adhesive CD sleeves, intended for manila folders, that I use now for sending out mixes . I printed this image on card stock, with the sleeve attached to the back. The track listing was visible through the clear plastic sleeve. I rounded the corners and tried to make it look more like an iTunes gift card. The mix was well received, with tracks 2, 7, 8, 12, 16, 18 and 20 marked as most liked/enjoyed.

Most of these were songs that I had been listening to quite a bit.2, 4, 8-10 and 17. I found the image of the silhouette and antlers online and designed the rest, complete with UPC barcode and numbers. The tracks were listed as one paragraph under TERMS AND CONDITIONS. This is a mix I can listen to in the car, at work, walking and with my family.

It's a fabulous mix, very dark and unhinged, lunacy abounds. I didn't bother to bold individual songs because it doesn't matter. The whole thing is perfect, no matter what I thought of any one song.

Cassie sent me the soundtrack to The Long Haul "a movie about four friends who, in their youth, pledged to take an epic trip together in the distant future. When the time comes, they are all in very different places in their lives, but agree to reunite. So this is a soundtrack for four friends on the road, with an undercurrent of melancholy."

This is my "Sin" themed mix that I sent to mandalaya. This is her response...


And now I must report on derhay's supercool Spring Break 1899: Girls Gone Ingalls Wilder mix (ETA: which I see ChrissySissyStar also got as an orphan mix - now you won't have to post the tracklist, CSS :) ). I've bolded the early favorites, although I have a feeling that several more will grow on me. Most of the songs are delightfully and appropriately old-timey, with some fun exceptions.

2. Kiss - Getaway - rockin' the anachronism! The postcard of Kiss in concert was an awesome touch

4. Kristin Hersh - Fly Around My Blue Eyed Girl
5. Shearwater - Red Sea, Black Sea - funny how just a banjo can make an otherwise modern song sound traditional.
6. Nashville Dulcimers - Keep On the Sunny Side - such a happy instrumental version of this song, almost a bold
7. Thee Headcoat Sect - Cowboys Are Square - Garage Bands for Native Americans! This resonates at the moment because my Dutch housemate is currently in Arizona meeting up with her Lakota fresh-out-of-prison penpal and possible true love. This song makes me think of her and wish her luck.

Discovered in a pile of ruins at a European dig site, Time-Life’s “Ancient Mix Tapes, Vol. 455: The 1300’s” is proud to present this mix, to Dante from Virgil, commemorating their momentous trip down to hell, as chronicled in Dante’s Divine Comedy: Inferno. April 2008

For my mix to BlueJayWay, I tried my hand at spray painting stencils. I made a stencil of Jon Voight (below), with his name stenciled on it too. This was the image. I tried mixing things up with the packaging too, but all of this innovation cut my time considerably, and I have only been only sending only one mix per round. I regret no scanning the final package, when I had finished it, but I wanted so much to send it on its merry way.

The CD has made its way from the car into the house! The mix is named after noted former car owner Jon Voight, and features neat stenciled cover art that rivals Ballroom Pink's great work.
